A robust financial foundation, coupled with contingency plans and emergency funds, can provide the necessary cushion to weather the storm and emerge stronger on the other side.

  5. Medford Fire Damage Restoration Methods that Save

Often, secondary damage resulting from poor remediation techniques causes Medford business owners as much or more trouble than their initial fire-related issues. Improperly cleaned surfaces can be permanently harmed, requiring costly replacement, and previously unaffected materials could be contaminated. Fortunately, services like SERVPRO know how to avoid these pitfalls.

Unlike some other Medford fire damage restoration firms, SERVPRO has well-developed procedures for safely and effectively removing residues from your business and ensuring that they do not harm unaffected surfaces. After our fire restoration experts complete their smoke remediation efforts, they quickly get to work on addressing the fire and smoke damage left behind. Some of the fire damage restoration procedures SERVPRO technicians carefully perform are:

  • Identifying surface types and the kinds of soil involved, pre-testing impacted materials for cleanability, determining which areas need to be repainted, and then employing the best cleaning method for each surface
  • Removing or pre-treating non-greasy, light-to-medium residues with dry cleaning sponges; cleaning soot, heavy dry ash, or light-to-heavy oily deposits off metal, wood, or painted surfaces; and employing the peroxide active cleaning method on delicate structural materials that have heavy nicotine and tar residues
  • Avoiding contamination of other surfaces and streaking by – working from the ceiling down to the floor when dry cleaning rooms and cleaning walls from bottom to top first, before starting on ceilings, when using the wet method
  • Using steel wool pads to scrub heavily soiled walls and ceilings that are to be repainted

While following these steps, our workers use all of the most advanced tools of the fire remediation trade to ensure that your job is done as quickly and effectively as possible.

With that said, remember that your neighbors at SERVPRO of Medford/Everett are always here and ready to help with all your fire damage restoration needs. Contact us at (781) 395-4444 whenever you need assistance.

Water Mitigation Approaches in Multi-Story Medford Offices

SERVPRO experts in equipment sign SERVPRO provides top-notch commercial damage restoration services in Medford. Call now!

Starting Water Mitigation in High Rises

Mitigation describes all the needed actions to protect your office building from more significant harm after water damage and flooding. While water removal is one of the most pressing concerns, and determining the best tools to accomplish this, SERVPRO professionals prioritize three main objectives for your damaged office:

  • Preventing moisture migration
  • Keeping water from nearby areas
  • Removing standing water

The Versatility of Wet Vacuums

Our wet vacuum units are the chief tool in Medford buildings' water mitigation. Cleanup is often most heavily aided by removing standing water and trapped moisture, and lightweight, portable units like wet vacuums provide an effective means of reaching inaccessible, damaged areas.

High-Pressure Pumps

High-pressure units overcome the friction of moving water from several stories up to the ground floor by increasing the pressure on the machine. Depending on their setup and placement, these units can be helpful in underground levels of a building, such as you might be seen in a hospital, or with managing standing water several floors above grade in high-rise office or apartment buildings.

Truck-Mount Extraction Units

One of the most powerful extraction units in our inventory runs off the engine of trucks in our fleet. The Green Fleet of service vehicles arrives at your property with one of our mounted pumps. This provides the capacity to remove hundreds of gallons of water per minute, a substantial discharge for flooded office building areas. Its higher power supply also allows it to be an effective tool to manage elevated mitigation needs where a high-pressure pump might not be feasible or efficient.

With many larger office buildings throughout the Everett and Medford areas, we must have suitable water removal and restoration solutions to help these structures after damage. Extraction is one of the most significant concerns, and our SERVPRO of Medford / Everett team has the right Large Loss tools to help when disasters strike. Give us a call today at (781) 395-4444.

I have fire and smoke damage in my commercial facility. How do I clean it up? Who can I trust to quickly restore my property to normal to avoid interruption of business activities and revenue loss?

After a fire, call SERVPRO to assist you in performing commercial fire restoration in your Medford property. Our experienced restoration team can assess the fire and smoke damage and develop a plan for restoring the affected structures and contents. Our fire restoration services include:

  • Removing and disposing of debris
  • Removing smoke residues
  • Water extraction and drying
  • Deodorization
  • Reconstruction

Removing and disposing of debris

We can remove charred structures and contents and dispose of them appropriately.

Removing smoke residues

Our SERVPRO team can use chemical sponges that are soft and dry to remove sooty residues from walls, ceilings, and other semi-porous surfaces. They clean surfaces through absorption and friction. Our restorers can press, rub, and pull the sponges across the soiled surfaces, absorbing the soils from the surfaces. The sooner we can restore these surfaces, the sooner your business can function as usual.

Water extraction and drying

The fire may have initiated the sprinkler system, or the firefighters used water to extinguish it. Our SERVPRO team can remove the water using extraction equipment. We can dry the property using air movers and low grain refrigerant dehumidifiers. In an office environment, rapid relative humidity return can lessen the potential damage to sensitive electronic equipment and books.

Deodorization

Air scrubbers outfitted with HEPA filtration units can capture airborne particles and gases, and odors. The devices draw dirty indoor air through several filters, including activated carbon, and can channel them to the exterior using negative air pressure. HEPA filters can contain particles as small as 0.3 microns in size. The activated carbon and potassium permanganate filter eliminates different types of odors and gases by attracting odor molecules to the filter through adsorption.

What are the Benefits of Commercial Cleaning Medford Properties?

SERVPRO Technicians Bring Professional Equipment and Methods to Medford Commercial Properties

Many Medford commercial properties utilize a local janitorial crew to keep up with removing dirt, grime, and dust. The first impression of clients should be of a clean and professional-looking building. Also, employees need a healthy environment to work within.

Every commercial property in Medford benefits from a deep cleaning from floor to ceiling. In particular, areas with heavy foot traffic with carpet can get refreshed through steam cleaning. The hot water extraction units force hot water into the fibers and then pull the dirt and grime out. Other methods of cleaning carpets can leave residues that attract dirt and dust and wind up making the fibers look filthy.

SERVPRO technicians have more than 100 professional cleaning solutions to choose from. The reason is that the technicians have comprehensive training to pair the right cleaning method with the surface or article getting cleaned to ensure that surfaces or materials do not get marred or damaged.

Meeting areas such as conference rooms may not get used daily but should look clean and professional. A sample deep cleaning job for a conference room might include:

  • Steam cleaning carpets, upholstery, and window treatments
  • Sanitizing high touch surfaces
  • Cleaning tables and other furnishings with surface-appropriate solutions

Sanitizing the high-touch common areas within commercial properties can assist in limiting the spread of cold, flu, and other illnesses. SERVPRO relies on EPA-registered cleaning solutions for all areas both employees and clients may visit on the premises, including restrooms. The technicians have experience handling extreme high traffic areas like the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and Salem Hospital.

SERVPRO of Medford / Everett at (781) 395-4444 handles commercial cleaning for Medford properties with the highest professional care and detailing, and expert cleaning services are available 24/7.

Are There Benefits to  a SERVPRO Emergency READY Profile and Plan (ERP)?

The first step is inviting SERVPRO to do a walk-through of your facilities. Our managers look for potentially hazardous spaces and building conditions that would benefit from adaptations making them less risky. Follow our recommendations to limit exposure to damage and to work shutdowns that could affect your business health. Nearly 50 percent of commercial endeavors find it impossible to reopen after a temporary closure to cope with a fire or water disaster. Instead, make proactive changes and help SERVPRO develop a concise digital document that:

  • Lays out your commercial campus’ blueprint, including the location of utility shut-offs, lines, and other systems
  • Clarifies the steps needed to protect vulnerable equipment and documents and to allow a portion of your space to remain accessible to your staff and possibly your customers during recovery phase operations
  • Organizes the efforts any SERVPRO crew takes to mitigate and remediate water and fire damage and soiling

Does the Business Owner Have Genuine Input During the ERP Creation?

No one knows your business better, so we urge you to use our mobile ERP app to add and update details. Confirm that SERVPRO is your restorer of choice and share contact information for the vendors and contractors who fitted your business with equipment and systems. Designate trusted individuals as agents if you are unavailable during any portion of the fire or water disaster to minimize delays.

How Do Mold Removal Companies Like SERVPRO Help Medford Business Owners?

4/26/2021 (Permalink)

mold damage on ceiling and wall Trust the seasoned , well-trained SERVPRO AMRT applied microbial remediation technicians to remove mold from our Medford Office

They Help Medford Businesses Overcome the Devastating Effects of Mold Damage.

Mold is a natural part of the environment, with about 1,000 unique species living in the United States alone, but it can cause serious issues if it grows inside your Medford area business establishment. Under the right circumstances, mold is beneficial for nature and can be a useful tool for humans. However, if conditions enable it to grow inside your restaurant, retail store, hotel, or office complex, it can harm your facilities and negatively affect those entering your business. This unfortunate situation could cause you to lose customers and profits and eventually lead to the cessation of operations.

Conditions That Facilitate Indoor Mold Growth

Eradicating mold from the natural environment is impossible, but there are keyways to prevent it from growing inside your commercial building. Mold spores, the seeds of these fungi, are omnipresent and routinely float through the indoor air of structures. These spores produce little effect if they do not land on a surface conducive to mold growth. Such mold-facilitating surfaces

  • Provide an organic food source
  • Have water or enough moisture to keep the microbes alive
  • Are in areas with enough oxygen to allow the microorganisms to survive

Temperature also plays a role in where molds thrive, but it is less important than the other factors. While most of these fungi prefer warm temperatures, many can also survive in cold environments.

Specific Ways Mold Can Impact Your Business

As previously noted, fungal outbreaks can cause structural damage to your facilities and have negative effects on those that enter them. Some of the more common issues arising from indoor mold growth are:

  • Severe discoloration of structural elements and interior contents
  • Foul, persistent musty odors
  • Damaged materials that have been consumed by fungal microbes
  • Diminished structural integrity, including compromised walls, collapsing floors, and falling ceilings
  • Health effects on workers and customers

It is for all of these reasons that it is crucial to have your buildings routinely inspected for mold and deal with these problems as soon as they are discovered. Doing this could help prevent interruptions in your operations, limit potential harm to your employees and patrons, and possibly avert total business failure.

With all of that said, it is reassuring to know that local mold removal companies, like your neighborhood SERVPRO of Medford/Everett, are always ready to help.

How Do Medford Mold Removal Companies Like SERVPRO Remediate Your Business?

SERVPRO technicians have been successfully performing mold removal services in Medford for well over fifty years. The procedure our professionals generally follow is as follows:

  • Non-salvageable building materials and contents are disposed of
  • Next, high-tech foggers may be used to treat black mold and other types with commercial-grade antifungal agents

A Level 1 loss can also be a small portion of a much larger structure.

Level 3 is a large commercial loss typically involving more than 60,000 square feet of affected floor space. The building or buildings involved will likely be large multi-level structures. If the facility was entirely affected, examples of a Level 3 loss can include, but are not limited to, a large church, hospital, school, or university; a large multi-family property; a mid- to high-rise retail or administration facility; a large industrial, manufacturing, or warehouse facility; or a large strip-style shopping center or shopping mall. This is the level at which it would be appropriate to refer to the project as a “large loss.”

Once our team at SERVPRO of Medford/Everett determines the level of loss, the property is further assessed, and a team of appropriate size is dispatched to get the job done quickly and efficiently, and return your business to operation “Like it never even happened.”®
